July Book club

We met at a neighbor's house.   Snacks included: Trader Joe's gluten free brownies,  Amy's gluten free chocolate cake, and gluten free chocolate chip cookies.   YUM.

For drinks we had: red wine or white wine and a cucumber cooler.   The recipe will be posted soon.

Our book this month was Joyland by Stephen King.

Overall Score -  4/5 stars

I liked this book a lot.  I felt it had good intrigue, good mystery and not too much scary.  It was a quick read and even reading it quickly you get the point of the story.    There are several themes that wind their way through the story.   And, I appreciate when an author doesn't try to wrap everything up into a neat package at the very end.   The strings were all brought together, but I still had questions.  I had to retrace some of my steps to see exactly what happened.  I liked that "it wasn't white".

  1. Loved the snacks and the cucumber cooler :)

I also thought the book was a good read, I was glad it wasn't scary like "IT". The story was engaging, and through most of it I was trying to figure out who killed the girl on the ride. I did want to find out what happened to the girl that dumped him though.
